The Pharmaceutical Society of Denmark (DFS) www.farmaceutisk-selskab.dk
DFS is one of the oldest scientific societies in Denmark covering the pharmaceutical field, and with about 650 members it is one of the largest. The aim of the society is to unite pharmacists across fields of work and conditions of employment. The vision is to become “The gathering point for pharmacy and pharmaceutical science in Denmark” which is achieved through meetings, workshops, conferences etc. that focus attention on current pharmaceutical issues to be seen through the light of this vision. The aims of these activities are: “to convey pharmaceutical science”, “to influence the development of Danish pharmacy” and “to strengthen the pharmaceutical identity”, as stated in the regulations of the society. Organisationally, DFS is managed by a Main Section (Board). To this is attached five subsections: Section of Analytical Pharmacy, Section of Biopharmacy, Section of Clinical Pharmacy, Section of Clinical Drug Development and Section of Social Pharmacy. Each of these subsections have their own board and regulations (all approved by the Main Section).

Danish Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (DSFE) www.dsfe.dk
Pharmacoepidemiology is the study of the use of drugs in a society with particular emphasis on the health-related, social and financial consequences. It could be described as clinical pharmacological issues illustrated with epidemiological methods. The aim of the society is to promote the development of pharmacoepidemiology in Denmark with a view to rational use of drugs. The only entrance requirement for new members is the interest in pharmacoepidemiology. The members of DSFE are very diverse but most have a medical, economic or pharmaceutical background. The majority of members are employed at universities, in the drug industry, in the Danish Medicines Agency or in the regions. The society organises one annual scientific meeting with presentations by mainly Danish scientists and teachers. A number of other, small-scale meetings are held within the frame of DSFE. A newsletter is published twice yearly, including book reviews, bibliographies of literature within pharmacoepidemiology, editorials, calender of international conferences and courses, descriptions of relevant Danish and foreign research environments, news from international collaborators and presentations by ordinary members.

Danish Society of Toxicology and Pharmacology (DSTF) www.dstf.dk
The aim of DSTF is to promote and strengthen the development of toxicology and pharmacology including both research, teaching and dissemination of knowledge in these areas to the surrounding society. The members of the society are from universities, public research institutions as well as the drug industry. The society is structured into two sections – toxicology and pharmacology. The society holds an annual meeting with participation of members from both sections where subjects of common interest are addressed. In addition, a number of mini-symposiums are organized each year. The sections represent Danish toxicology and pharmacology in a national, Nordic and international context. The sections of DSTF are affiliated with and represented in international umbrella organizations including International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR), European Pharmacological Society (EPHAR), International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) and European Society of Toxicology (EUROTOX).
